site.btaSports Minister Honours World Para Athletics Champion Ruzhdi
Youth and Sports Minister Ivan Peshev awarded world para-athletics champion Ruzhdi Ruzhdi with a cash prize on Monday for his gold medal in the F55 shot put at the World Para Athletics Championships in Delhi, India. Ruzhdi was awarded BGN 50,000 for his victory, while his coaching team received BGN 40,000.
Addressing the world champion, Peshev said: “For yet another time, you have proven that perseverance, strength of spirit and belief in your own abilities can achieve top results. We are proud of your contribution to Bulgarian sport and the inspiration you provide to young people across the country. I wish you health, new victories and many more reasons for national pride”.
Peshev also announced that establishment of a Paralympic Centre to train Bulgarian athletes with disabilities is being planned. He added that the facility would allow them to train in an environment meeting the highest standards and achieve even greater success for Bulgaria.
Attending the meeting were Bulgarian National Paralympic Organization Chair Ilia Lalov and Ruzhdi’s coach Radostin Todorov.
