Bulgarian violinist Antoaneta Velyova has won the silver prize in the Euterpe Music Awards online winter competition in Berlin.

Velyova was awarded in the Junior C age group (up to 13 years of age) for her performances of Pablo de Sarasate’s Introduction and Tarantella and the first movement of Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1. She received 93 out of 100 points and was just two points away from winning the gold prize, which was awarded to Bella Rui Huang (USA), Hinata Ohno (Japan), and Philip Schuszter (Austria).

This is the second international recognition in recent months for the Bulgarian, who is currently a seventh-grade student at Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School in Sofia, trained by violin teacher Radmila Petrova-Krasteva. Velyova received second prize at the 4Seasons Vienna International Musician Competition held in the Austrian capital in October.

The winners' gala concert will take place on June 15 in the Kammermusiksaal of the Berliner Philharmonie.
