A Bulgarian-Israeli documentary Next Generation (2019) by directors Niya Aleksandrova and Ayelet Heller was screened at Brussels' Aventure cinema, the Bulgarian Embassy in Belgium said on its website. The screening was organized by the Bulgarian Embassy on the occassion of this year's 80th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews in World War II. The documentary tells the stories of descendants of rescued Bulgarian Jews.

The event was organized in partnership with the Belgian Institute de la Memoire Audiovisuelle Juive (IMAJ)  and the State Cultural Institute with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The screening was attended by ambassadors and diplomats from countries in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and representatives of Belgian and international Jewish organizations.

Bulgarian Ambassador to Belgium Plamen Bonchev underscored the intransitive significance of the unique and inspiring story of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during the Holocaust.

A special guest of the event was Maxim Delchev, Executive Director of the Shalom Organization of Jews in Bulgaria. In a conversation after the screening, Delchev shared the story of his own family and noted that the rescue was not a single act by one person or a group of people but the result of efforts and constant actions by the church, public figures, and ordinary people, as the documentary itself shows.
