site.btaForeign Minister, UAE Ambassador Discuss Opportunities for Further Development of Bilateral Ties

Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev met with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Bulgaria, Abdulrahman Aljaber, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry said in a press release on Friday. The two confirmed the excellent bilateral relations and discussed opportunities for their further development on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership signed in 2022.

During the meeting, they also discussed holding the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as preparations for the first session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Technical Cooperation. Both sides expressed their readiness to work towards strengthening the partnership in the fields of trade, investment, transport, defence, energy, innovation, culture, and agriculture.

Georgiev emphasized that Bulgaria views the United Arab Emirates as one of its most promising partners in the Middle East region. He highly praised the role of the UAE as a factor of stability in the Middle East and reaffirmed Bulgaria’s support for deepening the strategic cooperation between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
