Beloslav Municipality will have a new ferry, to be built with BGN 24 million in funding from the state budget. The project was officially launched on Saturday in the presence of GERB-UDF Floor Leader Boyko Borissov, Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Varna Regional Governor Andriyana Andreeva, MPs from GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning, as well as local mayors.
The new ferry will be 57 metres long and 15 metres wide, said Svetoslav Stoyanov, owner and manager of the shipbuilding company Galera 07 Ltd. According to him, the vessel will have a capacity of up to 40 cars and 230 passengers. Stoyanov specified that the ferry is scheduled to be launched by the end of October 2026, followed by a one-month testing period. It is expected to enter into operation in December 2026, he added.
The ferry will connect the northern and southern shores of Lake Beloslav. The one currently in service is already very old and has limited capacity. Stoyanov said the new ferry will also be equipped with solar panels and energy storage batteries. It will have four new-generation engines.
The first BGN 7 million for its construction have already been transferred.
