Vietnam is our trusted friend and important partner in the dynamically developing region of Southeast Asia, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said on Friday, at his meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, who is visiting Bulgaria.
"We are following with interest and highly appreciate Vietnam's remarkable progress, socio-economic development and reforms, as well as the country's important role as a factor for peace and stability in the region. The further strengthening and development of our traditional relations, our close friendship, mutual respect, and multilateral sectoral cooperation are among the sustainable priorities of Bulgarian foreign policy. We are confident that with joint efforts and on the basis of shared political will, we will build on and enrich with practical content the bilateral relations that were elevated to the level of strategic partnership during this visit," Zhelyazkov said.
He emphasized that the strategic partnership with Vietnam is a logical next step, building on seven decades of cooperation. Zhelyazkov added that the Bulgarian public is well aware of Vietnam's impressive economic achievements. Zhelyazkov recalled that many Vietnamese citizens have studied in Bulgaria and contributed to the rapprochement between the two nations.
