site.btaDeputy Defence Minister Iliev Meets with Japanese Counterpart Yozo Kaneko

Bulgaria's Deputy Defence Minister Radostin Iliev Tuesday met with Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defence Yozo Kaneko, who is paying a three-day visit to Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Defence Ministry said in a press release. The sides discussed topics related to the current security environment, with a focus on partnership through NATO and the EU. Also discussed were the development of industrial and defence cooperation and military education.

A high mark was given to the Japanese service persons who took part in the Sea Breeze 24 naval exercise. 

The meeting was also attended by Brigadier General Lyubomir Monov, Director of the Defence Policy and Planning Directorate, Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria Hisashi Michigami, as well as experts from the two countries' defence ministries.

While in Bulgaria, the Japanese guest is scheduled to visit 3rd Air Base near the south-central village of Graf Ignatievo.
