Sofia Mayor Terziev: Independence Is a Responsibility to Keep Bulgaria Honest and Just

“Independence is not just a historical date, but a responsibility to keep our country honest, just and dignified. To set an example for future generations that Bulgaria can and must move forward with confidence and faith,” said Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev on the occasion of the 117th anniversary of Bulgaria’s Independence.

Terziev described independence as the natural continuation of freedom. “Freedom was won at the cost of many sacrifices, while independence was achieved through wisdom and courage. Today we can say that spirit is alive,” he stated.

He added that Bulgaria is part of the European family and Sofia is a capital that reflects the pulse of a modern state.

Terziev called for unity, stressing that “only together can we be free.”
