The Sofia Inspectorate calls on the city's residents to join the Spring Cleaning Campaign between April 5 and 14 by cleaning the places where they live, study and work. "Our efforts, our joint activities and engagement will make a difference as they will make our city cleaner," the Inspectorate's Aneta Savova told BTA. "Let's spend the Easter Holidays in a cleaner and more pleasant city."

Savova said the idea is to attract volunteers to take part in cleaning shared spaces. The campaign will target public places such as areas surrounding residential buildings and municipal offices, children's and sport playgrounds and public gardens. The Inspectorate will provide gloves and waste bags and will offer information about where to clean and how to dispose of the waste.

Trimming, cutting and removing trees, bushes and branches is not allowed unless the respective borough administration has granted permission. If permission is available, the branches should not be mixed with other waste. Green waste should be left beside household waste containers.

"Most importantly, we should change our way of thinking about waste and become aware that it is not litter, but rather a resource of the circular economy," the expert said.
