MECh party leader Radostin Vasilev looks forward to Velichie (Grandeur) entering the National Assembly to beef up the opposition against Boyko Borissov and Delyan Peevski, both of whom have been blamed for corruption over the years.

Vasilev made the comment on Thursday, a day after the Constitutional Court required the Central Election Commission to recalculate the results of the October 2024 early parliamentary elections.

He said "the MECh plan" cannot be made to work because the Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria coalition, nominally in opposition, has always been a proxy of Boyko Borissov's currently ruling GERB. "We have never been in a situation where there is such a large majority in the Chamber and no opposition," Vasilev complained.

"We are the only opposition, and this is obvious," he went on to say, adding that MECh will take a more radical stance against GERB and Delyan Peevski's Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning.

Vasilev argued: "We cannot have fair elections in Bulgaria so long as someone can buy themselves half a million votes. The latest elections must be annulled altogether."
