Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov has appealed the termination of the procedure for the election of prosecutor general by the Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), the Supreme Administrative Court told BTA on Thursday.
The case on the appeal has not yet been scheduled.
On January 23, Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev convened the Plenum of the SJC for an extraordinary session in order to be able to rule on the postponed procedure for the election of a prosecutor general. At the session, the Plenum voted to terminate the election procedure.
On January 15, Parliament finally adopted at second reading amendments to the Judiciary Act, which terminate the initiated procedure for the election of a prosecutor general. The only candidate for the post in this procedure was the Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov. A day later, the SJC Plenum postponed the election procedure.
