site.btaCompetitors from Five Countries to Take Part in Second Edition of Rhodo Rock Ultramarathon in Momchilgrad

Nearly 200 participants from five countries have so far registered for the second edition of the Rhodo Rock Ultramarathon in Momchilgrad, Mayor Ilknur Kyazim told BTA on Thursday.

Kyazim recalled that about 300 people participated in 2024, while this year they are expected to reach 600 by the end of the registration deadline. She noted that among the registered marathon runners are representatives of Bulgaria, Greece, Turkiye, Serbia and two competitors from the Republic of Korea.

"What impresses us is that this year many Momchilgrad residents are registering, many young people are registering for the 9 km and 21 km distances. This makes us happy, because the leadership of the Momchilgrad Municipality wants to develop both mass sports and tourism," Kyazim said.

Participants will compete at different distances, with routes being 9 km, 21 km, 42 km and 60 km long. "The 60 km distance includes interesting tourist attractions such as the Petrified Forest, the deer farm, the forest park," Kyazim emphasised.

In addition to being a sporting event, the Rhodo Rock Ultramarathon is also a way to promote the region, as participants of the first edition of the ultramarathon later returned as tourists, while others promoted the region through their posts on social networks.

The Rhodo Rock Ultramarathon is again organized in partnership with the sports clubs K3 ULTRA and iRun.bg.
