The Joint Governance Council is in meeting Tuesday to discuss the 2025 budget.

On his way into the meeting, Stanislav Balabanov of There Is Such a People said they have "overall information what the figures are and will finalize this information today".

He went on to attack Continue the Change co-leader Assen Vassilev, who is a former Finance Minister, for "the huge gap in the budget" and "ruining the state with the budgets they adopted", and added that Vassilev "has no right to criticize and give advice".

Vassilev and his Continue the Change, on the one side, and the parties in the government, on the other side are going head-to-head over whether or not there is a gap in the budget. The government claims that the existence of a BGN 18 billion gap in the budget prevents this country from making the next step to joining the eurozone.

Balabanov said that this year will likely be "a transition year, so that we can tighten the belts and look at the eurozone when we are ready".
