Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev spoke by phone with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman al-Safadi on Tuesday. Jordan's top diplomat congratulated Minister Georg Georgiev on his appointment to this highly responsible post, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

For his part, Minister Georgiev described the conversation as an expression of the importance both sides attach to the future of relations between Bulgaria and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In the context of the serious global challenges and the high dynamics of events in the Middle East region, the readiness of the two countries to maintain an active political dialogue at all levels was reaffirmed. Some concrete future steps for the exchange of high-level and top-level visits were also discussed, and the sides rallied around the idea that this would give further impetus to friendly ties between the two countries and to fruitful cooperation in the various areas of mutual interest.

During the talks, the Bulgarian side highlighted the key role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in achieving lasting peace in the Middle East region. They underlined Bulgaria's commitment to support all international efforts to achieve sustainable peace and security in the region.
