Bulgaria's National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova and Vice President Iliana Iotova will join the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the discovery of the Panagyurishte gold treasure, Parliament's press service and the President's Press Secretariat said. The commemorations will take place under the auspices of Vice President Iotova.
The Panagyurishte gold treasure was discovered on December 8, 1949 by three brothers, Pavel, Petko, and Michail Deikov, tile workers from the town of Panagyurishte, Central Bulgaria. The treasure consists of nine gold vessels with a total weight of just over 6 kg.
On Sunday, Kiselova will attend a musical performance by children from Panagyurishte.
In Merul, near Panagyurishte, Iotova and Kiselova will visit the historic site where the nine Thracian gold vessels were discovered by the Deikov brothers in 1949.
Iotova will also confer with the leadership of Panagyurishte Municipality. Later in the day, she will attend a concert at the local theatre, where she will deliver an address to mark the occasion.
The celebrations in Panagyurishte kicked off on December 4.
