The US remains engaged in the partnership process for Bulgaria's accession to the Visa Waiver Program, said Adam Hunter, Assistant Secretary for International Affairs of the US Department of Homeland Security during a meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev on Monday. During their discussion, the recent progress Bulgaria has made on the matter was highlighted.

"The rules are to be respected", Glavchev stressed, adding that Bulgaria will make every effort to meet the objective criteria for accession. The Prime Minister pointed out that the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry is conducting a special information campaign because of the high number of refusals and added that he has set up a working group to speed up activities on the visa matter.

Glavchev also highlighted the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the USA, as well as the priorities of the caretaker cabinet - the respect of the Constitution and the laws, as well as the fight against corruption as clear red lines that the government follows steadfastly. The PM also noted the elections held on October 27, which international observers from PACE found to have been professionally organized.
