site.btaDeputy Defence Minister Participates in South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial Process Forum
The traditional annual meeting of the defence ministers from member states of the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial Process (SEDM) took place in Tirana on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defence press service reported. The Bulgarian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Defence Radostin Iliev.
The forum was opened by Simona Cojocaru, Chairperson of the SEDM Coordination Committee and State Secretary and chief of the Department for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations at the Romanian Ministry of National Defence. The participants were addressed by the Albanian Minister of Defence, Pirro Vengu, and by his Romanian counterpart, Angel Tilvar.
The discussions focused on the progress achieved and the possibilities for further development of the initiative, the prospects for the activities of the South-Eastern Europe Brigade and other matters of regional cooperation in the field of security and defence.
Iliev stressed the significant role the SEDM has played for more than 25 years in strengthening good neighbourly relations and in the Euro-Atlantic integration in the region.
