Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev congratulated Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on his decisive election victory and wished him "success in his important role" as President of the United States, the Council of Ministers said on its Facebook page here on Wednesday.

The Bulgarian government leader expressed satisfaction with the strong Bulgarian-US relations and confidence that the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the US will continue its positive development. "This includes key areas such as trade and economic cooperation, energy diversification, innovation, and security and defence," the statement says.

President Rumen Radev and other politicians have also congratulated Trump on winning the US presidential election. Earlier, Trump claimed a "magnificent victory for the American people".
