A total of 15,218 employees of the Ministry of Interior are engaged in maintaining security at voting sections, protecting public order, ensuring fire safety and trouble-free conduct of the early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria on Sunday, the ministry said.

In addition, 453 officers of the Specialized Counter Terrorism Unit are contributing to public order maintenance in Sofia and the country's regions.

People carrying weapons or objects posing life and health risks are not allowed on voting premises. The use of mobile phones, cameras and other recording equipment to document people's votes is prohibited.

The offices of the Bulgarian Identity Documents Directorate are open from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday to issue necessary documents to voters who have lost their ID cards, or in case the cards were stolen, damaged or destroyed, or have expired.

The national inter-agency taskforce coordinating the work of the prosecution service, the Interior Ministry and the State Agency for National Security continues to operate to ensure rapid and adequate reaction to offences related to the election process. The taskforce is sharing information with the Central Election Commission and regional units, and the data is being collated and analyzed.

Alerts about malpractices related to the election process can be sent by telephone at 02-90-112-98 or by email at izbori@mvr.bg.
