The Holy Fire miraculously descended on Holy Saturday, the eve of Orthodox Easter, at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, global news networks reported.

The flame appeared in the Edicule (Kuvuklia)—the small chapel within the church that houses the tomb of Jesus Christ, under a revered stone slab believed to mark the burial site. The mystery of the Holy Fire—which is said to ignite spontaneously—remains unexplained, despite numerous investigations throughout history.

The ceremony was led by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem.

The Holy Fire is considered a sacred symbol of Christ’s Resurrection and is venerated by millions of believers around the world. It is traditionally passed from candle to candle and carried to Orthodox countries, where it becomes part of Easter celebrations.
