Bulgaria's caretaker Minister of Justice Maria Pavlova and Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna signed a memorandum of understanding in Sofia, Pavlova's ministry reported on Wednesday.

The memorandum is intended to help Ukraine prepare for EU membership, including through judicial reform. It will enhance the two countries' relations in the field of justice and common European values.

The justice ministries of Bulgaria and Ukraine will maintain partnership based on equality and mutual trust as they work to promote the rule of law, improve civil servants' skills, share information and expertise on EU law, and raise the standards of the administration of justice.
