Protesters Demand Resignation of Caretaker Interior Minister

Protesters gathered in front of the Interior Ministry demanding the resignation of caretaker Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov. The event was organized by the BOEC civil movement.

The protesters blocked the traffic around the Ministry. There was an increased police presence in the area.

The organizers handed out umbrellas to police officers at the protest "as a symbol of the 'umbrella' that Atanas Ilkov has turned the Ministry of Internal Affairs into."

"By his actions, he turned these people from law enforcement officers into 'umbrellas'. Hopefully now, by handing them these umbrellas, they will realize the humiliation they are being subjected to. This humiliation is not caused by us, but by their superiors," said Georgi Georgiev from BOEC.

He also appealed to the protesters not to escalate the demonstration and not to throw stones at the Ministry building because it belongs to the citizens.
