Weather conditions are good for hiking in the mountains, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) said on Sunday.

Mountain rescuers warned of the danger of icing. They advised citizens to be well dressed and observe the trail markings.

Temperatures are from minus 5C to minus 10C, the snow cover is about 5-10 centimetres. There is light wind in places in the Balkan Mountains region.

Lift facilities in most resorts are closed for maintenance.

There have been no incidents with tourists in the mountains over the past 24 hours, the mountain rescuers said.
