Caretaker Justice Minister Mariya Pavlova said Thursday that the procedure for election of prosecutor general and Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) president should continue. "It is not appropriate for heads of authorities to have expired mandates and to be governed by caretakers. Since the Constitution permits, this procedure must be carried out," she added before a sitting of the Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council.
"Whether the President will not sign a decree appointing the prosecutor general and the SAC president is something we will see in January or March," Pavlova said, adding that she will not propose a nominee for SAC president.
She argued that the National Assembly "showed no willingness to start this procedure" as in the last two years it has not even adopted rules for the election.
