Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev and French Ambassadot here Joel Meyer on Tuesday discussed ways to promote Bulgaria among French citizens. Participating were Petya Dimitrova, Economic Attache at the French Embassy and Vesela Todorova-Mozettig, Director of the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the Tourism Ministry said.

Minister Miloshev expressed his desire for Bulgaria to host a business forum in the field of tourism, which would attract French travel companies, journalists and influencers. The aim is to introduce potential new partners to the diverse tourism opportunities Bulgaria offers. Ambassador Meyer underscored that Bulgaria has excellent conditions for forms of tourism that are popular among the French - sports, cultural and culinary. "Bulgaria has an advantage over many other destinations because there is no overtourism here, which guarantees quality," he noted.

In order to boost Bulgaria's popularity as a tourist destination, Minister Miloshev proposed joint action to identify French celebrities and opinion leaders on social networks and in the media to tell about Bulgaria's history, culture and opportunities. As an example, he pointed the successful partnership with Prof. Bettany Hughes and the BBC, whose films about Bulgarian history reach millions of viewers worldwide.

During the meeting Petya Dimitrova presented the activities of France’s Tourism Development Agency, Atout France, which has offices in over 30 countries. FBCCI Director Vesela Todorova-Mozettig added that next year will mark 25 years since the establishment of the Chamber, which is a good opportunity to promote Bulgaria among their partners.
