site.btaProsecution Service Initiates Pre-trial Proceedings in Response to Military Aircraft Crash

A team of military prosecutors and investigators, together with the Military Police Service, launched an investigation to establish the causes and circumstances surrounding the accident involving an L-39 ZA trainer aircraft at the Graf Ignatyevo Air Base, the prosecution service said Friday.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated. The prosecutor's office added that the inspection of the scene of the accident, identification and questioning of witnesses, as well as all officials involved in the planning, implementation of the training flight, maintenance of the flight and ground equipment are to be carried out. All documentation relevant to the case will also be seized. A number of forensic examinations are also to be appointed.
