Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev ordered the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the State Agency for National Security to immediately begin an inspection into the issue of buffer truck parking at the country's border checkpoints, the Government’s press service said on Thursday.
This comes after government officials held a meeting on Wednesday to address recent cases of heavy traffic through border crossings.
Deputy Transport Minister Dimitar Nedyalkov highlighted that issues akin to those near Vidin have also been observed near Ruse. Nevertheless, a resolution was successfully implemented in Ruse and there are plans to replicate this approach at the Danube Bridge 2 in the near future. Consequently, the Transport Ministry, in collaboration with the Vidin Regional Governor, will initiate urgent discussions with local authorities and the company overseeing the Vidin parking lots.
Regional Development Minister Violeta Koritarova, Agriculture Minister Georgi Tahov, NRA Executive Director Rumen Spetsov, Directorate General Border Police Director Anton Zlatanov, and Customs Agency Director Georgi Dimov also attended the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
The Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) parliamentary group said here on Thursday that it had addressed a letter to caretaker Prime Minister Glavchev concerning the escalating issue of international traffic at Bulgarian border checkpoints earlier that day. The letter outlines specific measures aimed at resolving these challenges and improving the current situation.
