On this date in Bulgarian history:

1877: Lovech is liberated from Ottoman rule by Russian troops led by Major General Alexander Imeretinsky during Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878).

1968: Il-18 performing charter flight from Dresden to Burgas crashes at Karnobat, killing 45 people.

2007: Katarzyna Estate winery, owned by Belvedere Bulgaria Ltd., is opened in the village of Mezek, South Central Bulgaria, by President Georgi Parvanov.

2008: Construction of Belene nuclear power plant is officially restarted by Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev, to be abandoned again in March 2012.
