Caretaker Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov held a telephone conversation with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.

The two officials discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest such as energy, tourism, economy and culture.

Minister Kondov confirmed Bulgaria's consistent aspiration to continue its efforts to intensify the partnership with Oman and to raise the level of bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level that would adequately respond to the current regional and global challenges.

The two Ministers paid special attention to the extremely tense situation in the Middle East region. They discussed the current developments arising from the Gaza conflict, its grave humanitarian dimensions, the efforts of the international community towards de-escalation, as well as the possibilities to support these efforts. In this context, the actions taken by the Bulgarian government to successfully resolve the case of the crew of the Galaxy Leader detained in Yemen were also presented and gratitude for the support provided was expressed.

Minister Al-Busaidi praised the consistent steps initiated in recent months to intensify the bilateral dialogue and reaffirmed Oman’s readiness for further close cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

The two diplomats concurred that the personal contact between the two ministers would be continued, and the signing of bilateral agreements is foreseen in the near future to strengthen the trend towards deepening bilateral cooperation, the Foreign Ministry further informed.
