The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said Friday it has invited international observers to the October 27 snap parliamentary elections. "In compliance with its commitments under the Elections Code and in order to guarantee fair, free and democratic elections, the Foreign Ministry has extended invitations for international observation of the October 27 early elections," the Ministry said in a statement.

The Permanent Representation of Bulgaria in Vienna has sent a verbal note inviting the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Invitations were also extended to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe through our Permanent Representation in Strasbourg, and to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation through Bulgaria's Consulate General in Istanbul. If these organizations are willing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will propose to the Central Election Commission the registration of their representatives as international observers at the forthcoming elections, the statement said.
