The Council of Ministers adopted a decision on Wednesday for the participation of Bulgaria in the 19th edition of the Venice Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy, from May 10 to November 23, 2025.

The Biennale is multidisciplinary and among the most prestigious cultural institutions worldwide. The international architecture exhibition is held every two years and runs on a pre-announced theme with a socially relevant message.

The title of the 19th Architecture Biennale is Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.

Curator Carlo Ratti is quoted as saying on the website of the Biennale, "The title of the International Architecture Exhibition is usually announced both in English and in Italian. In 2025 it will be condensed into a single word for both languages via the common Latin precedent: intelligens. The title Intelligens is linked to the modern term 'intelligence,' but it also evokes a wider set of associated meanings. In fact, the final syllable, 'gens' is Latin for 'people'. A new, fictional root emerges, suggesting a future of intelligence that is inclusive, multiple, and imaginative beyond today’s limiting focus on AI."

Bulgaria's participation aims to promote the achievements of contemporary Bulgarian architecture, stimulating bilateral cooperation in the field of architecture and the mobility of artists, strengthening Bulgaria's image and using the country's capacity to achieve significant foreign policy goals and priorities in the field of culture and visual arts.
