More than 114,000 medicinal products - tablets, capsules, sachets and solutions, were found by customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint during an inspection of a truck entering the country from Turkiye on June 29, the Customs Agency said in a press release on Thursday. The violation was detected in the framework of a joint operation between the Customs Agency, the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, Border Police and the National Revenue Agency to counter smuggling.
The smuggled medicines were seized. The driver of the truck, a Kosovo national, was issued with an administrative offence under the Customs Act for attempting to smuggle goods across the state border without the knowledge and authorisation of the customs authorities.
