Bulgaria backs the appointment of three judges and one advocate general to the EU Court of Justice from Lithuania, the Netherlands and Sweden. This is stated in the Bulgarian position for the meeting of the permanent representatives of the member states in the European Union (COREPER II), which will take place on July 3 in Brussels.

The meeting will consider the proposals of the three countries.

Bulgaria supports the nominations of Irmantas Jarukaitis and Rimvydas Norkus, both from Lithuania, for the post of judge and advocate general at the Court of Justice of the European Union, the nomination of Bernardus Smulders from the Netherlands for the post of judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union and the nomination of Fredrik Schalin from Sweden for the post of Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The term of office of the four candidates will run from October 7, 2024, to October 6q 2030.
