Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) MP Lena Borislavova said in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio here on Sunday that if [GERB leader Boyko] Borissov, [Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Floor Leader Delyan] Peevski, [There Is Such a People (TISP) leaders] Slavi [Trifonov] and Toshko [Yordanov] come to an agreement, then forming a government would be possible. She added that the fact that GERB, the MRF and TISP deny having come to such an agreement suggests that the opposite is true.

Borislavova called on the three parties to come to terms with reality and stop claiming that if forming a government failed with the first mandate, then the second would fail too. The first and the second mandate are bound by Constitution to go to the two largest parliamentary groups, which in this 50th National Assembly are GERB-UDF and the MRF, while the third exploratory government-forming mandate gets handed over by the President to a parliamentary party of their choice.

Borislavova said: "The voters' message was that we should be in opposition after they gave us 39 MPs. There is no way we can enter the third term with GERB, the MRF and TISP." She added she felt sorry for Borissov for having Yordanov and Trifonov on one side and Peevski on the other. The CC-DB MP spoke about the time her coalition had to work with Trifonov in the Kiril Petkov Cabinet, between December 13, 2021, and August 2, 2022. She alleged that Trifonov demanded from CC-DB to not look into the way the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works allocated its funds, if the Government was to survive.

According to Borislavova, the logical reaction to the last election results is to come up with a better way for the coalition partners CC and DB to work together. She added she would leave some time for DB to first solve the issue of their leadership after the resignation of Hristo Ivanov.

Commenting on the assemblage in the previous regular government, which saw CC-DB, GERB-UDF and the MRF work together, Borislavova said that on the one hand it was a mistake in terms of CC's political survival, while on the other it was a success, as it led to good political reforms and legislation.
