Continue the Change co-leader Kiril Petkov said on Facebook on Saturday the good news for the people who voted for Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) on June 9 was that without the coalition's participation in consultations on cabinet formation, GERB leader Boyko Borissov cannot "become prime minister as he hoped before the elections".

"He will not be prime minister," said Petkov.

He stressed that each vote for CC-DB in the snap elections was a vote against Borissov becoming prime minister. "This is your victory. Since Continue the Change was founded three years ago, Borissov has failed to be cast in his favourite role, no matter how much he wanted to," said Petkov.

GERB-UDF won 68 seats as against 39 for CC-DB in the 240-seat Parliament.

On June 13, at GERB's first news conference after winning the June 9 national and European elections, Boyko Borissov said that he would not be running for prime minister. He said there would be a government if the prime minister is named by his party.

On the next day, Petkov said in a Facebook video that no matter what government Borissov proposes, CC will be a clear and constructive opposition and will support all pro-Europe and anti-corruption policies.
