Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev will be in Switzerland for the first Summit on Peace in Ukraine on June 15-16, the government information service said. After the meeting in Buergenstock, Glavchev will leave for an informal meeting of EU leaders in Brussels on June 17.
The summit, organized by Switzerland and Ukraine, is expected to set a framework for future peace talks with Russia and to define a roadmap on how to involve both Russia and Ukraine in a future peace process, based on the UN Charter, international law, and principles from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's peace formula. Bulgaria will join four working groups: on food security, energy security, restoration of justice, and environmental safety. The last of these will be co-chaired by Bulgaria, Germany and Finland.
The meeting is expected to promote a common understanding and consolidate a single approach among as many countries as possible and to provide a platform for high-level dialogue on the framework of a future peace process for Ukraine, with the first top-level political discussion on ways to involve Russia in that process.
Bulgaria supports the initiative of Switzerland and Ukraine to convene the first Global Peace Summit, the government information service said on May 17. In this connection, Prime Minister Glavchev met with Ukrainian Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk and Swiss Ambassador Raymund Furrer.
