GERB-UDF MP Daniel Mitov Friday told journalists in Parliament that he is withdrawing his approval of becoming caretaker Foreign Minister, as proposed by caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.
On Monday evening, Glavchev proposed Mitov take up the position from Stefan Dimitrov. Earlier on Friday, Glavchev met with President Rumen Radev to discuss proposed changes to the caretaker cabinet lineup. The caretaker PM said that the appointed ministers continue performing their duties until the President issues a decree for their change.
Mitov stressed that he had been a foreign minister before and explained that in this situation the country should have a clear foreign policy course, which should be pro-Atlantic, pro-NATO, pro-European.
"In this situation, I should not turn into an "apple of discord" and into any figure who would divide and prevent the institutions from doing their job," Mitov said.
