site.btaCaretaker Foreign Minister Dimitrov Confers with German Minister of State Lindner

In the framework of the second Black Sea Security Conference, part of the international Crimean Platform, Caretaker Foreign Minister Stefan Dimitrov met with Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Office, who participated in the forum in Sofia. Dimitrov and the German Minister of State discussed the fruitful partnership between Bulgaria and Germany in areas such as security and energy, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Monday evening. 

The two ministers unanimously expressed the view that it is necessary to further develop the potential for expanding bilateral cooperation. Stefan Dimitrov highlighted as very positive the fact that record values of trade between the two countries have been recorded in recent years.

Lindner said that Bulgaria can count on Germany's full support for Bulgaria's full accession to the Schengen area.

Lindner and Dimitrov also discussed the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, the security situation in the Black Sea region and united around the position that support for Ukraine from European countries should continue as long as necessary.

Dimitrov recalled that the Bulgarian community in Germany now numbers more than 400,000 people, making it the largest in Europe. That is why the Bulgarian side is counting on the assistance of the German government so that the largest possible number of Bulgarians can exercise their democratic right to vote on the territory of Germany in the upcoming elections for European Parliament and for Bulgaria's 50th National Assembly on June 9, the press release said.
