site.btaStatute of FOEDUS European Organ Exchange Association Proposed for Ratification

At its regular meeting Wednesday, the Council of Ministers approved a proposal to the National Assembly to ratify the Statute of the FOEDUS European Organ Exchange Association.

By participating in the Association, the Executive Agency Medical Supervision (EAMS) expands the possibilities for saving the lives of patients in need of transplantation by receiving or providing organs in donor situations in Bulgaria and Europe. The Agency’s membership in the Association is in keeping with Bulgaria’s Organ, Tissue and Cell Transplantation Act, according to which EAMS is a competent authority for organ import and export coordination and international cooperation on donation and transplantation processes.

Membership in the Association does not limit Bulgaria's participation in other current and future EU mechanisms, international organ exchange organizations, or bilateral cooperation agreements.
