This year the British Embassy held the 7th edition of its Ambassador for a Day initiative. It started back in 2018 to celebrate the International Women's Day and has since become one of the most widely supported initiatives of the Embassy, it said in a Facebook post.

The post goes with a photo of Ambassador Rob Dixon with the three winners in this year's edition of Ambassador for a Day - Nikoleta Stoynova of Kazanlak, Teodora Vachkova of Troyan and Lyoni Ruz of Yambol, all aged 17.

The competition aims to encourage Bulgarian girls to express their views on a wide range of important issues for society. This year's edition motto is "Inspiring Women's Inclusion" and puts the focus on the inclusion of women in all areas of life regardless of age, race or creed. The competition was open to girls from 8th to 12th grade, who had to record a video about how they would inspire other girls to dream big, pursue their dreams and not give up.

Vice President Iliana Iotova is patron of the initiative.

On Friday, she met with the three girls and exchanged views with them gender equality, violence and early marriages in the Roma community, said the President's Press Secretariat. The three joined the Vice President and Ambassador Dixon in their daily work, participated in meetings with representatives of various institutions and the non-government sector.
