site.btaFrance Backs Bulgaria’s Eurozone Entry as of January 1, 2025

Conferring with France's Minister for Economy, Finance, Industry and Digital Security Bruno Le Maire, Bulgarian Finance Minister Assen Vassilev was told that France strongly supports Bulgaria's accession to the euro area as of January 1, 2025, the Bulgarian Finance Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday. The meeting between Vassilev and Le Maire was attended by Bulgarian Energy Minister Rumen Radev.

During the talks between the ministers, it was confirmed that France supports Bulgaria's membership in Schengen by land. France also declared readiness to cooperate with the Bulgarian border and customs authorities in strengthening controls at the external European borders, the press release further reads.
