"I didn't invite the president to be part of the government," GERB leader Boyko Borissov told journalists on Wednesday, reacting to a statement by Vice President Iliana Iotova.

According to Borissov, it is ridiculous to talk about impeachment of the president who is directly elected by the people, just as it is ridiculous for a person who the public has trusted to be a unifier to speak like a party leader and who hasn't liked anything which is happening in Bulgaria, except for the caretaker government. "We don't like the caretaker government," said Borissov.

Borissov said that GERB's "front" against Rumen Radev was not deliberate and added that then the President wanted to oust GERB from power but they completed their term.

During elections it has always become evident who is supported by the President. "When Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev are in the same poster with the president, it is hard to hide their support for him, and later his support for them, when they were ministers in his caretaker government," said Borissov. In politics there should always be a niche to seek a ruling majority, said Borissov. "We haven't for a minute begun to like each other with Continue the Change and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, but this is the only possibility and currently there is no alternative," he underscored.
