Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova has received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Czech Ambassador, Miroslav Toman, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday. The two sides discussed cultural issues as well as partnership within the framework of the EU and NATO.

They stressed the importance of the dynamics of political dialogue for the achievement of common goals, as well as the prospects for economic cooperation, with an emphasis on mutual attraction of investments in the field of high technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, as well as opportunities for supporting start-up business initiatives.

Deputy Minister Shekerletova thanked for the Czech support for the first stage of our country's accession to Schengen and briefed Ambassador Toman on the negotiation process on Bulgaria's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as one of the foreign policy priorities.

A special focus of the conversation was the topic of opportunities for cultural exchange, with a focus on cultural diplomacy, student mobility, scientific exchange and tourism.

The two diplomats also discussed issues from the international and European agenda, including the European prospects of the Western Balkans, support for Ukraine, migration, and green energy. Ambassador Toman expressed his readiness to work on a wide range of topics within his diplomatic mandate, said the Ministry.
