Periodic training will be conducted for law enforcement officers in connection with their police work, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov said here on Tuesday. He attended a demonstration at the Interior Ministry Academy, which was part of an ongoing process to train senior police officers who will pass on what they have learned to their colleagues across the country. The officers will undergo theoretical and practical training.

The trainings will be set out in the annual plans of each Interior Ministry Regional Directorate, Stoyanov explained. Their aim is to increase the professional qualification and competence of the officers, as well as their practical skills. The trainings will consist of simulations of police checks and risky situations, including extracting persons from a vehicle, detaining them, chasing them and other critical situations that police officers face on a daily basis, Stoyanov added.

"The analyses we have made show that mistakes are made and training only when applying to the structures of the Interior Ministry is not enough. It should be carried out every year, systematically and periodically", the Interior Minister emphasized.
