site.btaMPs Extend 9% VAT for Restaurateurs until December 31, 2024

MPs extended the reduced VAT rate of 9% for restaurateurs until December 31, 2024 with 184 votes in favour, 7 votes against and two abstentions regarding texts from the Value Added Tax Act discussed at second reading. The corrections were made by Irena Dimova from GERB-UDF.

MPs from GERB-UDF, Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), Vazrazhdane, Movement for Rights and Freedoms, BSP for Bulgaria and one MP from There is Such a People (TISP) supported the extemtion. One MP from CC-DB and six from TISP were against. One person from GERB-UDF and one from CC-DB voted abstained.

VAT for establishments was reduced during the COVID pandemic, as they were hit the hardest.

The MPs also extended the VAT rate of 9% for general tourist services and for gyms until June 30, 2024.
