site.btaBulgarian Medical Association to Analyse Medical Activities' Economic Impact
The Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA) has commissioned an economic analysis of the impact of all medical activities on Bulgaria's economy, BMA Board Chairman Ivan Madzharov said during the Association's 6th national congress, held here Friday and Saturday.
The results are expected to be officially presented in February of 2024. According to him, the contribution of doctors and hospitals to the economy will be analysed. The study will be in four phases - structure of hospitals and doctors in Bulgaria, direct economic contribution, additional economic activities, total economic contribution and future prospects.
The aim is to use this analysis wherever necessary when defending the position of the BMA, added Dr Madjarov.
According to initial data from the study, there are 341 hospitals in Bulgaria with 54 500 hospital beds, 32,000 physicians and about 28,000 nurses, it transpired from Madzharov's presentation during the forum.
