A British delegation led by the Minister of State for Immigration, Robert Jenrick, will be visiting Bulgaria, the Interior Ministry said on Sunday. Jenrick and Bulgarian Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov will discuss the joint efforts in the fight against illegal migration, including by disrupting the supply chain of migrant smugglers.
On November 13, Stoyanov and Jenrick will sign a joint statement on enhanced cooperation and will give a briefing at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Turkish border.
On October 11, the cabinet approved a draft joint statement between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom on stronger cooperation in countering and preventing organized crime in the field of immigration. The document, proposed by the UK, envisages the establishment of a joint working group tasked with determining ways to deepen the bilateral cooperation between the competent authorities and with assessing the implemented activities.
Jenrick was scheduled to visit Bulgaria on October 16-17 but the visit was postponed.
