Minibus Smuggling Migrants Crashes 50 km from Sofia

A minibus smuggling some 30 migrants crashed near the town of Breznik (Western Bulgaria), 50 km west of Sofia, Monday noon, BTA learned from the Interior Ministry's Regional Directorate in Pernik. The migrants are believed to be of Afghan origin.

The driver of the Sofia-registered vehicle failed to stop for police. Several people were injured and were taken to hospital in Pernik.

The driver's identity is being ascertained. Police presence has increased at the entry point to Breznik.
