site.btaMinivan Carrying 17 Illegal Migrants Crashes near Sofia after Police Chase

A minivan carrying 17 illegal migrants collided with a taxi on Sofia's ring road early on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said. The migrants say they are from Afghanistan.

Ten migrants were taken to hospital for a checkup and four will receive treatment. The 18-year-old Bulgarian driver with a criminal record was arrested. He has no driving licence.

Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov told bTV the police were alerted about the minivan when it was on the Trakia Motorway. The driver failed to stop for police at the entrance to Sofia and crashed after a chase.
