A ground-breaking ceremony for a building which will house educational and cultural institutions of the Shalom Organization of Jews in Bulgaria took place in central Sofia. The organization said the compound would house the Ronald Lauder School, the Gan Balagan Kindergarten, the Jewish Community Centre and Shalom Headquarters.
More than 600 children aged between one and 18 will get their education in the new building. A STEM centre will enable the use of high technology in education. The complex will also include one of the largest libraries in Sofia, as well as concert and event halls.
In October, students will plant trees in the area as part of the project.
Shalom is partnering with Sofia Municipality and Vazrazhdane Borough for the project, which is backed by some of the largest educational foundations in Europe and the United States.
